About Catherine.
Hi, Cath here!
MY PASSION is my photography. I love it, I lose myself in the process, and it’s where I find my flow.
Today, I am based in West London, where I live with my husband, our two children, Kit our American Maine Coon Cat, and Herbie our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. But I have been taking pictures since I was a child, thanks to my Aunty Honey, who gave me an old Olympus to play around with when I was 12.
Despite my early interest, I didn’t start my professional life in photography. Instead, I meandered here, via a degree in Textile Design, and a first job at a Textile Design Consultancy, where we predicted colour and trends for the fashion industry -- before I took the leap of faith and decided to ‘become’ an Interiors and still-life photographer. I worked for a few magazines before I had the good fortune to be asked to shoot an interiors book called Global Style, in collaboration with the author Lesley Dilcock. Little did I know then that it would be just the first of many books I would work on. That was way back in 1999, and to date I have created photographs for more than 25 books, as well as working with many magazines and home, lifestyle and fabric brands. If you are interested, you can see some of that work here www.catherinegratwicke.com
MY PURPOSE is to share some of the pictures I have taken along the way, and those I am working on now. The first collection, is made up of flower pictures, which I took with Vic Brotherson, the florist behind the wonderful Scarlet & Violet. I originally took them for her website, but have long felt they really needed to be seen in all their glory, properly printed up on beautiful art paper.
MY HOME is very important to me: I am a true homebody. It inspires my work and pictures that I create. But I have also photographed many other houses, and I am endlessly fascinated by how people choose to decorate their own living spaces. So to be at last able to offer pictures for YOUR space, is very exciting for me.
Keep in touch for news and inspiration of lots of new photographs to come,
Love Cath X
